Yoga on the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, Dallas

March 5th was a gorgeous day in Dallas, TX. It was a sunny 73 degrees that may have felt too warm for outdoor exercise if it wasn't for the breeze you felt when standing atop a bridge. Nearly 1100 Yogis showed up that day on the Margaret Hunt Hill bridge for Dallas' largest outdoor Yoga practice.

Built in 2012, The Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge is a fairly new Dallas landmark.

This was the fourth annual "Yoga on the Bridge" put on by All Out Trinity and the minimum $10 donation benefited the non-profit Trinity Commons Foundation. Its goal is to turn the Trinity River Corridor into Dallas' Central Park.

Last year as my Instagram feed flooded with Dallas Yogis on the Margaret Hunt Hill bridge, I knew this was an event that I wouldn't want to miss again.

I recruited my best friend and we made the trek from Fort Worth to the Trinity Groves area in Dallas. A straight shot on i30 on a Saturday afternoon, we arrived in about 30 minutes, easily found parking and started walking up towards the bridge.

We checked in and set up our Yoga mats in the middle of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, directly below the center white arch.

The Yoga instructors were Jennifer Lawson from Sync Yoga & Wellbeing, Samantha Martin from The Mat Yoga Studio and Lauren Margolies from the Dallas Yoga Center. The practice welcomed all levels from first time beginners to advanced Yogis. The Yoga was gentle and restorative, exactly what I needed on a sunny Saturday afternoon in Dallas.

It was surreal to lay on my back on a Yoga mat on a city bridge usually only occupied by motor vehicles, to feel the relaxation benefits of Yoga while the bridge shook underneath us from the cars whizzing by on the other side of the divided bridge.

It was great experience to connect with my community and I will be sure to participate next year. It seems the event gets larger each year, so be sure to show up early to claim a good spot for your Yoga mat on the bridge.

Keep running,
