Let's assume you are not a bone-head like me and you remember to pack your shoes on race day. Oh, I didn't tell you that story? That's one for another day. For now let's talk about my race day essentials. I wouldn't want to cross the start line of a big race without these accessories (assuming I remember to get dressed and wear shoes). Enter below for your chance to win some of my favorite items in a giveaway.
I love my FlipBelt. I think I am supposed to tell you they sent me one for free three years ago to review on Running with Ollie Blog but I have been a loyal fan and follower ever since. The FlipBelt is a tubular belt that you wear around your waist while you race (or anytime you need to stash your belongings while you workout). It has multiple slip openings and is surprisingly roomy. Have an iPhone 6? No problem. This sucker will stretch out to hold it. I love it for race day because it has a hook for my key, I can carry my ID and cards, my cell phone and whatever else small essentials I may need. It stays close to my body and doesn't bounce around like some of those other belts. Sounds great, right? Want to win one? Keep reading.
Nothing gets me through a race like a great running playlist on my iPod. I don't listen to music on my regular training runs on the street because you know, safety, but I love a good playlist for a mental boost to help me power through the race miles. It's amazing what an upbeat song can do for my pace. Want to win a $10 iTunes gift card to pump up your current playlist? Enter to win below and check out my Run Faster 5K Playlist.
Have you ever been a contender for first place in a big race and tripped over your untied shoelace and fell flat on your face only to lose the first place position? Yeah, me either. But have you ever had your shoe laces come untied during a race and got really annoyed to lose precious minutes to stop to tie it? Yeah, that sounds more like it. Lock Laces solves that problem. Replace your regular shoe laces with Lock Laces and you will never stop to tie your shoelaces again.
I don't know if it is a lucky charm, a fashion statement or science, but I never toe the line without a pair of compression socks. I love ProCompression for their bright colors and fun designs, perfect for race day. I love the feeling of compression on my legs while I run (and after for recovery). Enter to win a pair of your own below. Winner chooses color and size.
