No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Bar Recipe

Active adults should be getting .5 to .8 grams of protein per pound of body weight a day.  I usually start my day with a few eggs, I have a chicken salad at lunch and round out my day with turkey or fish for dinner. I still sometimes come up a little short on my protein requirements, so I fill in the gaps with high protein Greek yogurt, cottage cheese or shakes made with protein powder.

I like protein bars but the bars that you buy in the store can be loaded with sugar or questionable ingredients and most of the time they don't even taste great. If you've ever choked down a dry, chalky store-bought bar in the name of health, then I have the perfect solution for your extra protein needs. How about no-bake chocolate peanut butter protein bars? Yes, please!

Have you ever pinned a recipe on Pinterest and then when you read the directions/ingredients you were discouraged and disappointed because the recipe was too complicated or was full of strange hard-to-find ingredients? (Can't be just me.) If so, you're going to love these no-bake chocolate peanut butter protein bars! They couldn't be easier to make and I already had most of the ingredients in my cabinet. Did I mention they are freakin' delicious?

No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Bar Recipe

2 cups of all natural peanut butter
1 cup raw honey
2 cups of chocolate protein powder (look for protein powder with low sugar and minimal processed ingredients)
2 cups of uncooked old fashion whole grain oats

In a mixing bowl combine the honey and peanut butter. Microwave for one minute to soften. Stir until blended, then mix in the chocolate protein powder and oats until coated. Press in a 9x9 pan and place in refrigerator and chill overnight. Cut into small squares.

When you finish making these, I think you'll find that you'll be tempted to eat the whole pan (they're that good) but like anything else in life, they should be enjoyed in moderation.

Do you get your daily protein requirements? Have you ever made your own protein bars at home? You're gonna love these! I hope you'll give them a try and let me know what you think.
